The Invictus I concept is based on a wingsail with a split flap design that features an asymmetric aerofoil section (wing morphing) and twist control.

This split flap arrangement was expected to be very efficient and to offer a lighter and more simple structure. A lighter boat therefore offers less drag in the water and, compared to our competitors, will achieve greater speed with the same lift.

The Invictus hull is a high tech sandwich construction for low weight using carbon fibre and infusion resin. The hull lines have been designed to quickly plane which will reduce the skin drag on the water for extra speed thanks to Clive Everests hull design expertise.

Clive Everest has designed many successful boats including the RS range of fast dinghies. Aerospace technology helped make the new C class hulls amongst the most advanced structures afloat.

The wing leading edge is a 40 ft single piece, resin infused carbon fibre construction. It is one the biggest and most structurally efficient parts ever manufactured in the UK with this technique.

The structure of the wingsail behind this main member harks back to aviation’s pioneering days, except that the fibres are now carbon, not wood, and the the covering is a modern plastic, not canvas.

If you wish to know more about this design and the new ones planned, please contact us, we will be happy to share information.
